Sara Jane Dietmeier

Sara Jane Dietmeier, 81, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. She was born December 14, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to John E. and Evelyn Riesterer. Sara was raised in Concordia, Missouri graduating from Concordia High School.

After high school, Sara attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri graduating with a B.S. degree and then received her M.A. degree from Northern Arizona University.

Sara moved to Nevada to teach physical education and driver’s education along with coaching at Basic High School with the Clark County School District. She then became Basic High School’s Athletic Director in 1977, becoming the first female to hold this position in the state of Nevada. Later, she became an Assistant Principal. In 1975, Sara was nominated for Outstanding Henderson Woman of the Year. Upon retirement, Sara and her husband, Jon “Mike”, enjoyed many years traveling in their R.V. throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Michael Dietmeier, along with her mother and father. She will be buried in Missouri alongside her husband and parents.

No services will be held; however, those who have had the pleasure of spending time with Sara know how much love and laughter she brought into their lives; and that will forever be celebrated.
