

Sarah Rios, 82, a resident of Henderson, passed away Jan. 13, 2013, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. She was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Stanton, Calif. Sarah retired after 20 years with the Clark County School District as a teacher family aide. Sarah was a lifetime member of the National Association of Latin Americans. She had a passion for playing the piano, dancing, and singing Mariachi songs. A favorite pastime was playing bingo and she was a "big" Angels fan. She was known for her community service, she was a devout Christian, and she volunteered throughout the Democratic campaign. Sarah was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Ortiz; and her brother Brijido Banagas. She is survived by her sons, George, Raul (Karen) and Orlando Rios; brothers, Abraham (Delia) and Paul (Ruth) Banagas; sister, Tomasa Lopez; granddaughters, Jade, Bria and Karisa Rios, Ashley Igalo and Autumn Igalo; grandsons, Shay, Nico, Dominic, Angelo, Nathan and Hayden Rios, and David Braun; great-grandsons, Aiden Vickers and Andrew Rios-Garcia; and great-granddaughters, Jasmin Garcia, and Araya Cross Rios. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19. Funeral services will be at noon, Sunday, Jan. 20, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern, Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
