Shirley H. Etor, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away on September 1, 2014. She was born on January 12, 1938, in Chapman, Maine. Shirley followed her dreams of working in the fashion industry by getting her degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York while working as a catalog model. Shirley's passion for adventure and travel led her to the island of Chi Chi Jima to teach English to the local children. The winds of change brought her to Las Vegas to work for Bonanza Airlines as a stewardess. She sealed her spot in Las Vegas history by winning the title of Miss Merri Mint giving her the great privilege of breaking ground with a gold shovel for the Mint Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. She married the love of her life Dr. F. Robert on April 11, 1965. She adopted two children, Kathleen and Robert. She devoted the rest of her life to being an amazing wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Dr. F. Robert Etor; her daughter, Kathleen Etor; her sisters, Gertrude Blier and Linda Henderson; and her brother, Allen Henderson.
