Shirley Weems

May 3, 1949 – December 10, 2017

Shirley Weems, 68, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, was born in Bessemer, Alabama on May 3, 1949 to the late Ruth Moore and Johnnie Davis.

Shirley found Christ at an early age. Our Heavenly Father called her home on December 10, 2017.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Terrell and Jeanetta Love; her four brothers, Jerry Davis, Samuel Davis, Anderson Blevins, and Johnnie Davis Jr.

Shirley leaves to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Sheilla (Alvin) Taylor of Birmingham, AL, Monica (John) Irons Jr of Hopewell, VA; two sons, Rufus Davis of Atlanta, GA and Durran Gordon of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Yvonne (Michael) King of Kentucky, Tanya Walker of Las Vegas, NV; three brothers, Melvin Davis of Birmingham, AL, Ted (Charnessa) Moore Jr of Bessemer, AL, and Rev. Robert (Melodie) Barnes of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Shirley was the life of the party.

Weep Not For Me

Weep not for me though I have gone into that gentle light

Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my souls sweet flight

I am at peace, my soul is at rest. There is no need for tears

For with your love I was so blessed for all those many years

There is no pain, I suffer not, the fear is now all gone

Put now these things out of your thoughts, in your memory I live on

Remember not my fight for breath, remember not the strife

Please do not dwell upon my death but celebrate my life
