Steven See, 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026 after fighting a courageous 8-year battle with cancer. He was a warrior to the end where he maintained his love of family and friends, expressed gratitude, kindness, and compassion. Steven, the son of Tekliong See and Felicitas See, was born on May 16, 1963 in Manila, Philippines. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Katharine (Yin) See.
At seven years old in 1970, Steven and his family immigrated to the United States where he grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was a 1982 graduate of Elizabeth High School and attended NJIT where he graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering. In 2005, Steve completed graduate studies at Wayne State University and earned a MS in Industrial and Operations Engineering.
Steve and Kathy met in the fall of 1983 on a blind date set up by Steve’s sister, Ivy. They got married on October 7, 1989 and lived in New Jersey where they started their family. After living in Ohio, Texas, Michigan, and Chongqing, China, Steve and Kathy settled in Las Vegas when he retired from Ford Motor Company after working there for more than 20 years.
Steve had many interests and hobbies. He loved spending time with family and friends, watching college football, reading, playing golf, exercising, traveling and exploring different cultures, cooking/eating (mainly), learning to play the guitar, playing Fortnite and Candy Crush, and of course playing mahjong. His easy going, larger than life sense of humor, and amazing smile put people at ease.
Steven is also survived by his loving children, Stephanie Castaing (Jeremy), Matthew, Carson (Julie) and two cherished granddaughters whom he loved to the moon and back, Ava and Ellie. He was known as their Sweet “Babboo”. He leaves behind his sisters, Diane (Phillip) and Ivy (Peter), along with nephews and nieces throughout the country. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved, adopted MahJong family, a bond spanning more than 50 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113, on May 16, 2026, what would have been Steven's 63rd birthday, from 6-8pm.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to Angel Flight West. A link to their website is posted on this page. Angel Flight West’s volunteer pilots flew Steve and Kathy to California during Steve’s arduous cancer journey. Their kindness and generosity linked them to a safe and stress-free passage to lifesaving medical treatments at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
