Terry was born on October 2, 1953, in Brookings, Oregon, to Doyle Rausch and Juneve McPheters. He was raised in Brookings alongside his siblings Dianna, Tom, Rachelle, Jennifer, Darla and Laurie. Growing up near the coast, Terry found his love for the outdoors early — playing baseball, fishing, hunting, and spending time in the woods. He also had a lifelong interest in history, sparked early on by his grandmother, Alice Rausch. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1972 and carried his work ethic and love of nature into adulthood.
Terry spent most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He served as a ski patroller, enjoyed deep-sea fishing in the Pacific Ocean, and had a long career in logging. Being outdoors was where he felt most at home.
While living in California, Terry met Nicola Moloney. Together, they built a family and welcomed their daughter, Stella, in Willow Creek, followed by their son, Joseph. Being a father was one of the most meaningful parts of Terry’s life. He was proud of his children and loved watching his family grow.
In 2009, Terry moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, with his partner, Nancy Hawk. There, he worked in construction and started a new chapter filled with hard work, laughter, and his favorite pastimes. Terry was an avid NASCAR and racing fan and a proud supporter of the Vegas Golden Knights. He loved cheering on his teams, watching sports, playing keno, and spending time with the friends he made throughout his life.
Terry had a presence that people naturally gravitated toward. He made friends easily and left a lasting impression wherever he went. He was kind, honest, and always quick with a story or a smile. He didn’t need the spotlight — but his presence lit up the room.
Terry is survived by:
His daughter, Stella Rausch Scott, and her husband, Justin Scott
His son, Joseph Rausch, and his wife, Nicole Winner
His grandchildren: Jacob, Corbin, Ramses, and Barrett
His bonus grandchildren: Dax, Zoe, and Cage
His sisters: Dianna Rausch, Rachelle Redding, Jennifer Atias and Darla Stillman
His brother in law Brian Atias
As well as his niece, many nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him deeply
He is preceded in death by his partner Nancy Hawk, his parents Doyle Rausch and Juneve McPheters, his stepmother Berna Rausch, his brother Tom Rausch, and his stepsister Laurie Rhodes.
Terry will be remembered for his strong but gentle nature, his loyalty, and his big heart. He lived life on his own terms — with quiet courage, humor, and a deep love for those close to him.
A memorial gathering to honor Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Jackpot Joanie’s, 3375 E Russell Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89120.
