Born on July 20, 1934 in Piney Fork, Ohio to Tulio Lughezzani and Violet Mary Allen Lughezzani, Ted moved to Michigan at a young age with his parents and younger sister Judith. As a first generation American, Ted worked tirelessly to put himself through University of Detroit and Detroit College of Law. During law school, Ted used his charm and persuasion skills to convince Katherine Elizabeth (née) Conklin to fit him in her busy social schedule and so began their love story. The two were married in Michigan on November 25th, 1960.
Ted was a prominent litigator and partner with Lacey and Jones, in Birmingham, Michigan for 40 years. Outside of the courtroom, he was an avid golfer and proud member and former President of Birmingham Country Club, devotee of all Detroit sports teams, and fierce friend, but above all he was a family man. The Original Girl Dad, Ted was never happier than when he was bragging about his three strong, independent girls and, later on, his adoring grandchildren.
Beloved and respected by all who knew him, Ted left a mark in the hearts of his family and friends that will never be forgotten. He retired early to spend time with his wife and after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, he took care of her until her passing. It is hard to imagine a world without Ted, but he set the example of what a husband, father and grandfather should be and left a legacy that his family will forever try to honor.
Ted is preceded in death by the love of his life Katherine Lughezzani and wonderful sister Judith McMican. He is survived by his children Cheryl, Patricia (Phillipe), and Laura (John), nephew Christopher McMican, grandchildren Katherine, Stephen, Elizabeth, Olivia, and Charles, and several grand dogs.
His family will forever miss his wisdom, unconditional love, and remarkable Euchre skills.
