Thomas R. Byrnes

Thomas Byrnes, 78, a 58-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully and was escorted into Heaven June 4, 2014. He was born on August 4, 1935, in Oak Park, Illinois. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Florencia on January 25, 1958. He had three children, Helen, Loretta and Eddie, and subsequently retired from Sears. Tom is going to be fondly remembered as an excellent provider; a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother; a good listener/walker/talker and advice-giver/mentor; spontaneous and adventurous; as well as having a very big and generous heart, giving to those in need without expecting anything in return. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, camping, giving words of encouragement and ice cream, not necessarily in that order! He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife Florencia; daughter Helen and son-in-law Michael Pate; daughter Loretta, son-in-law Craig Brunell and grandson Michael; son Edward Byrnes, daughter-in-law Maria and grandchildren Shelbi and Dominic; and his sister Arlene Jehlicka.
