He was born October 5, 1950 in Nam Định, Việt Nam to Riến Nguyễn and Chằm Thị Đặng. He was the third of seven children, with older siblings Tuyến and Màu, and younger siblings Hiếu, Tiến, Đức, and Nhiệm.
As a young man, Tuyền served in the Army of the Republic of Việt Nam fighting for his country. Following the end of the war in 1975, he returned to his hometown of Chu Hải, Bà Rịa. He found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 26, when he married Vang Thị Đoàn. They had two sons before escaping the communist regime in a handmade fishing boat in 1981. The family spent time in refugee camps in the Philippines and Malaysia before being sponsored to the United States and relocating in Atlanta, GA.
In 1985, Tuyền moved his family to Westminster, CA where he and Vang had two daughters. They subsequently moved to Richmond, CA in 1993, and opened a catering truck business. Pursuing the opportunity to own their first house, the family moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2002. Finally settled, he worked as a custodian for many years until his retirement.
Tuyền was an active member of Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church, volunteering as often as he could. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and visiting extended family around the world. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, singing, and reading. He was a kind and gentle man who put others before himself.
He is survived by his wife, Vang; his children, Tuấn, An, Lan, and Ngọc; his grandchildren Aiden, Caleb, Jocelyn, Lucas, and Leo; his sister and brothers Màu, Hiếu, and Đức; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church.
