

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Vartan Arslanian was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Vartan will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Vartan’s life journey began on January 29, 1953. He first greeted the world in Yerevan, Armenia. His parents' names were Ervant and Sonia Arslanian. His mother's fondest memory... “We (his father and I) were at one of his soccer games. He was the goalie for Armenia's Ararat Team. He caught the ball preventing the other team to score and I (his mother) stood up in the stand and shouted out "that's my son!" The crowd cheered on even louder for him". He grew up in Yerevan. Growing up for Vartan was an involving experience. It allowed him to learn and grow and create all kinds of memories.
A lot of what shaped Vartan’s life was how he was raised. He was raised with one sister. Marie was the younger sister. He was always a protecting big brother. Vartan was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his sibling. He and his sibling experienced the typical rivalries of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years. As a young boy, Vartan had a number of interests. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Vartan was an active child who enjoyed a number of different activities, including soccer. A number of things caught his interest, such as he was involved with gymnastics, soccer, outdoor sports and water sports he was very active.
In school, Vartan learned many things and made many friends. Vartan managed to accomplish many things as a child, both in and out of the classroom. However, to Vartan, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends. Vartan also went on some family trips occasionally during his childhood. In all, Vartan grew up surrounded by family and friends who cared about him very much.
Many things change when a person becomes old enough to go to high school; Vartan was no different. He was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from a school in Armenia and later went on to attend an institute for physical education. Vartan tried to be involved in a number of different activities, both in and out of school, during these years. He loved playing in soccer in high school.
After high school, the next big step in a person’s life is heading off to college. How someone reacts to the freedom and responsibility shows a great deal about their character and the person they will become. Vartan enjoyed his college years. Though it was a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied it, he was able to manage the balancing act. He attended college in Armenian for physical education. College allows a person to become more focused in their studies but also opens up whole new horizons for one to explore. Though awards weren’t the reason he worked hard in college, Vartan was recognized for his efforts.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Vartan experienced that with Susan Arslanian. Growing up both families were really close and good friends so the young couple spent a lot of time together. Vartan and Susan had their first date at the Marriott.
They were at a little pub called Elizabethian on the east side when he proposed to her.
After the wedding, the couple enjoyed their first few days together as husband and wife during their honeymoon. They spent their honeymoon in Atlantic City, New Jeresy and Washington DC.
Empathic and loyal, Vartan was committed to making his new family happy. It is true that during those early years the couple lived modestly, but they were happy nonetheless. Their first residence was Grand Ave, Cranston, RI. 423 Dover Ave East Providence, RI. .
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Vartan worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. He worked hard toward raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Linda the oldest daughter graduated from UNLV with a bachelor degree in science to teach. Currently Linda is a kindergarten teacher. Lily graduated from UNLV with bachelors in health care administration and then went back recently and completed a master’s degree in public health care, currently working at Health Plan of Nevada. Melanie and Jessica are entering their senior year of High School, aspiring to graduate with high honors. Melanie wants to be a cardiologist and Jessica wants to be a teacher. Later on, Vartan was blessed with the gift of one granddaughter and another one on the way, Elaina Linda Chavarria.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Vartan enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Vartan worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his jobs. While he worked several jobs over his life, Vartan’s primary occupation was mostly self employed. Extremely hard working and would stop at anything to be a great provider for his family. To say he was an entrepreneur wouldn’t give him justice. Vartan was recognized for a job well done.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Vartan enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including spending time with family and friends. Playing soccer, watching soccer, making others laugh, he would always tell jokes. He loved to go dancing with his beloved wife of twenty-nine years. He was usually willing to share his interests with others.
Like all people, Vartan had his favorite things in life.
When it came to entertainment, Vartan enjoyed a number of different things. He loved to watch cooking shows on the cooking channel and the soccer channel. He loved to dance as long as the beat was good he didn't care. He also enjoyed good food and drink, such as hot soup.
Vartan enjoyed sports and athletics. Soccer was his favorite but he loved to watch all sports.
A person’s faith says a great deal about them. Some people are raised with strong beliefs while others garner them throughout their life. Vartan’s faith was important to him. Christian.
Vartan Arslanian left us on June 23, 2011. He passed away He had a heart-attack in the car and was rushed to St. Rose at Sienna Hospital where they declared he had passed away and they couldn't save him. He was 58 years young. The cause of death was a massive heart attack. He is survived by his wife and children.
So this is Vartan’s life, the sum of the man that he became. Simply stated, Vartan was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Vartan leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Vartan Arslanian touched will always remember him with a smile.
