

Vern Alan Chitwood a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at home on September 9, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 1, 1944 in Macon, Missouri to Vern and Wanda Chitwood. When Vern was 5 the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where his father started a Pepsi franchise.
In school in Salt Lake City, Vern started playing the trumpet at age 14, playing many parades and events. This was the high point of his high school days.
In 1964, Vern met Joan Zajac. They dated for several years and on July 10, 1971 he married the love of his life in St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of the Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
Vern started his work career with 10 years at Kennecott Copper, where he worked as a Dump Truck Driver and later as a lineman electrician. In 1976 Vern started his property management and real estate sales career. He was a member of the Distinguished Million Dollar Club and later the Multi Million Dollar Club. He received many awards in the industry.
In 2008, he moved his wife and daughter and father in law to Henderson, Nevada, where he retired. There he spent many days playing billiards. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his 5 year old grandson. He even worked out with his wife when she deemed it necessary.
Vern is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Marie and grandson Valen. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society and We Care Foundation.
