On Friday, January 19, 2024, Viola Craig of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away exactly one month before her 100th birthday in February. Viola was born in Cupar, Saskatchewan, Canada. Viola married Charles Craig in November 1945. In 1956 Viola became an American citizen and was always very proud of both her Canadian heritage and of her American citizenship.
As the result of Charles’ service in the United States Air Force Viola and Charles lived in many places in the United States as well Guam and Germany. Upon his retirement from the USAF Charles was employed by General Electric which took them to Saudi Arabia. They had many memories and stories to tell of their travels.
Viola and Charles settled in Las Vegas and during retirement they travelled with their RV and visited family in the United States and Canada until Charles’ passing in July 2006.
Other than family and travel, Viola loved her bridge, golf, garden club, bus trips and attending musical venues in Vegas with her friends. She never tired of seeing the lights on the strip. An expression often heard “it is good to be out with the people”.
Viola will be missed by both the Craig and the Goyer families.
In accordance with Viola’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held in the early spring/summer. Viola will be interred with the love of her life, “my Charles”, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
