Lita called last week to share with me the very sad news of Virgil passing. It had already been an entire year and I realized that she was doing the vey best that she could do with covid surrounding us all. My husband and I have lost 12 loved one's between us since the onset of this horrible virus and never could we visit in a hospital to say goodbye or have a funeral / memorial to grieve or have closure.
In 1975, two of my colleagues and I traveled to Alaska to make our fortunes in the cannery. They lasted three weeks and they went home but I stayed and worked at Pan Alaska.
This is where I met a family named, the David's. All and every single one of them embraced me and took me inside their gatherings and home. My first time away from home was lonely and I missed my family but the David family embraced me and became my family.
Lita and Virgil became my older and wiser brother and sister. They taught me life experiences and had the time for sound advice. Within two years, I was renting a room from them with two other girlfriend's from home. Virgil named me, Anang and to this day, I still do not know what that means? Being able to watch all of the children come into this world with the honor of being made a godmother to some was everything. The parenting skills came easily with so much love and always with Mamang and Papang at the helm.
There are too many memories to share but they will ALL be stored in the most important bank in the world and that bank does not hold money - it holds precious memories.
The entirety of the David family has my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. You truly are a rarity in this world teaching, human kindness along your way.
Lolita, Jung Jung, and Ryan. God keep you strong. My husband, Paul and son, Riley have never met you but they have heard my stories of Kodiak and, The David Family. We are thinking of you all tomorrow and there in spirit.

Love,

Dana, Paul, and Riley Amado
