

Walter Frank Bliss Jr., 81, of Henderson, passed away at home, Tuesday, May 1, 2012, of asbestosis, which he lived with for many years. Walt was born in Pittsburgh Jan. 18, 1931. He was the eldest of five children. Walt married Bernadette Unger Oct. 13, 1956. Walt was a member of Asbestos Workers Union Local #2 in PGH. They relocated to Henderson 12 years ago. Walt enjoyed casino games, horse racing, being with family, debating politics, and good food. His favorite was ice cream. He had many fond memories of the life he dedicated to hard work. Walt started working when he was 16 and only retired after being urged by his wife because of health problems. Walt was known for his endless generosity. He loved to be of service and would do anything for a friend, neighbor, or family member. Walt is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Bernadette; his sons, Walter and David; grandson, Benjamin; and two sisters, Cathy and Mary Louise. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson.
