Skip pursued his passion for physical education, graduating from the Panzer School of Physical Education and later earning his Master’s degree from UNLV. He served in the Air National Guard for eight years and then as a volunteer firefighter with the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department while starting his career in teaching. His career as a teacher and guidance counselor spanned over four decades, first in New Jersey and then in Las Vegas, where he made a lasting impact on his students.
On June 27, 1975, Skip married Alice (Vallon), whom he met while they both worked at an elementary school. Their life together was filled with love, adventure, and shared joy. Skip had a deep appreciation for staying active—he enjoyed going to the gym, riding his motorcycle, traveling, and spending time with his family. Above all, he was devoted to making Alice’s life as enjoyable as possible.
Skip will be deeply missed by Alice and their children Lauren, Darith, and Tara. He was a proud grandfather to Dylan, Margot, Lila, Jordyn, Kiernan, Evey, and Sierra and loved them dearly. He is also remembered by his daughter Megan and son Eric from a previous marriage. His treasured niece, Alyce, held a special place in his heart. His sister, Pat, will continue to cherish the lifelong friendship they shared as siblings.
Skip was predeceased by his dear son from a previous marriage, Terry, and his siblings, Pete and Jean.
Skip’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort to his loved ones.
