

Wanda Kay Liston, 67, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away on November 8, 2013 at Desert Springs Hospital. She was born on November 20, 1945 in Sidney, Ohio to William and Wilma Layton. She was the fourth of five children. Wanda spent her childhood days on a farm in Maplewood, Ohio with her brothers and sisters. Wanda graduated from Granite Hills High School in El Cajon, California in 1964. Wanda married in 1966 and had two sons, Charles and Jody. Wanda worked various jobs during her life, from a clerk at Holiday Inn and a jacket factory in Ohio to the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas as a housekeeping supervisor. Later in life, she worked privately for herself cleaning private homes. Wanda didn't believe in retirement and she worked up to her passing. She loved to vacation in Hawaii and did so many times with family and friends. She often said that the islands felt like home to her. Wanda had a smile that would light up a room and her laugh was infectious. She is survived by a fiancé, Frank Cromwell; her two sons, Charles and Jody; her daughter-in-law, Laarni; her only granddaughter, Kristi Jo; sister, Waneta; a brother, Warren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Layton Family Foundation in Shelby County, Ohio, which is assisting with college tuition for rural families. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Cemetery.
