Wayne was born on April 20, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the first child of Reginald Vanderbilt Shoen III and Thelma Doris Rowden. Wayne was a loving husband to Dorothy Shoen for 43 years. Wayne put Dorothy on top of a pedestal and she could do no wrong.
Wayne was also in Ripley's Believe It or Not for roller skating at the young age of 18-months. Wayne Shoen proudly served two tours of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation with the Oak Leaf Cluster. It was presented for the Easter Bombings in April of 1971. He was also in the 19th Tactical Air Support Squadron. He took on many jobs to support his family, such as, being an elevator mechanic; farming; and when he came to Vegas he became a security guard. He was also awarded a Citizen's Award from the Las Vegas Fire Department for using CPR to save a man's life.
Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carpentry. He was always the life of the party and people couldn't help but to smile around him. He was a kind-hearted man and everyone loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Sukontip Vixathep, Tina Botelho, Tracy Shoen, and Joey Shoen, and preceded by his young son, Wayne Earl Shoen, Jr., at the age of 8. He is also survived by his brother Edward Shoen and two sisters, Bonnie Mills and Julia Groves. He had 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM, June 9, 2018 at Palm Mortuary.
