William "Babe" Gialketsis

William ”Babe” Gialketsis, a longtime Las Vegas resident and businessman died at his home on July 8, 2021. He was 88-years old.

The son of Greek immigrant parents, he was born in Los Angeles, California in 1933. He grew up in LA, attending Manual Arts High School and later the University of Southern California on a football scholarship.

He married in 1957 and moved to Las Vegas in 1958. He was a founding partner of Bonanza Beverage Company shortly thereafter. He worked to build that company for the next 65 years while raising his family in Southern Nevada. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was well travelled and, it may be said, he was known for his directness and integrity in his personnel and business dealings.

He is survived by the children from his first marriage, Bill, Steve and Julie; his two stepsons Dave and Ron Woodbury; his 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89123 from 4:30 to 8:30pm on July 22. The funeral will be held in the chapel at Palm on July 23 at 10:00am, followed by a luncheon at Spanish Trail Country Club at 11:30am.
