William A Hattendorf

William A. E. Hattendorf (Bill), age 95 of Las Vegas, Nevada, died peacefully at home on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2026 with the love of his life, wife Judy Hattendorf by his side. Born October 18, 1930, in Queens, New York. He was the only child of William & Bertha Hattendorf. He was a graduate of Hofstra University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in German & English. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army in Germany as an Intelligence Officer & Interpreter. Bill had an illustrious 45 yr career in Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare. Beginning with twenty-two years at Lederle Laboratories (NY), Bill eventually would become VP of the International Division. He went on to become VP of Business Development at Duramed Pharmaceuticals (Ohio), followed by VP of External Affairs at St. Johns Hospital and VP Marketing at Valley Presbyterian Hospital (CA). As a fearless risk-taker, Bill ventured to Oxford, England as an investor and partner at Protherics Pharma, a biotech startup.

Bill made friends all over the world with people of different cultures, inviting them into his home to experience the American life. Bill truly treasured friendships. He stayed in touch with friends he had known for 70 years. Bill took great pride in his German heritage. He was an avid reader, from German history tomes to his daily NY Times. Bill was a sincere and engaged conversationalist who made everyone feel important. He was a masterful storyteller. We will remember him for his integrity, intellect, kindness, engaging smile & humor. Most importantly, Bill loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Judy Hattendorf, his daughter Krista Adamo (Paul), his son Kurt Hattendorf, his stepsons Bernie McGrenaghan (Melissa) & Sean McGrenaghan, stepdaughter Debra Downs (Peter). He was Opa to grandchildren Willa, Max, Ava & Evan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a celebration of life well lived in honor of Bill Hattendorf, 11 AM on May 16th, 2026 at Palm Southwest Mortuary 7979 West Warm Springs Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada.
