“Bill” Hoge, son of Kenneth and Phyllis Hoge, was born in Los Angeles, California on April 2, 1946. The oldest of three siblings, his family, moved to Pasadena where Bill was raised and considered his home. He was a fourth generation Pasadenan, a legacy he cherished.
Bill was always “the life of the party”. He loved sharing his experiences and ideas with friends, family, and even the occasional restaurant worker. In a room full of strangers, everyone was a friend. He was an avid historian and an expert in his genealogy. He loved sports, with an adoration for the University of Southern California Trojans, Las Vegas Golden Knights, the Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers.
He was proud of his service in the United States Coast Guard, always valued the fact he was an Eagle Scout (Troop 11, Pasadena, California), and an active member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses from 1972-1998. He took comfort in his Christian faith, a devout Presbyterian.
A patriot, and unabashed lover of the United States, he served as a California State Assemblyman of the 44th district (Pasadena), from 1992 – 1996. After leaving office in 1996, his dedication to public service endured beyond California, from his move to Nevada where he joined the Independent American Party of Nevada, which he ran under for Nevada State Treasurer in 2018, the Nevada Assembly in 2020, Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 2022, and Nevada’s 1st U.S. congressional district in 2024. Bill demonstrated an unwavering commitment to political engagement and civic duty.
He will be fondly remembered for his integrity, his public spirit, and devotion to the Lord, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Hoge, his daughter, Jennifer Hoge, and his sons, Phillippe and William Hoge Jr., and Dave & Dan Shelton, and his five grandchildren, Matthew, Harrison, and Genevieve Hoge, and Madilyn and Evan MacLean-Shelton. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy Goodey and brother, Phillip Hoge.
Services will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, Nevada, 89123 on Tuesday July 22, 2025. The visitation will be 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by the committal service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow 11:30 – 1:30 p.m.
