William McKinley Knight was born on August 20, 1955 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to the union of Lawrence and Martha Knight. He was the fourth of their sixth children. At an early age he confessed Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Merigold, Mississippi. William, or Kenny—as he was so fondly known as—was educated in the Bolivar County School District at Hayes Cooper Elementary, East Side High, and Cleveland High School. Kenny moved to Las Vegas and began working as a gaming technician. He later began an engineering career with the Department of Energy and remained in that field until his untimely illness. Kenny met his wife, Bridget, in 2002. After a brief courtship, they married and never left each other’s side.
