

William (Bill) Silecky, 86, of Las Vegas died in peace surrounded by his family on Friday, May 9th, 2014. Bill was born on January 1st, 1928 in the Ukraine to Victor Silecky and Odarka Uzkia. After surviving the ravages of WWII, Bill immigrated to the United States and proudly became a United States citizen in 1954. Bill worked as a metal finisher for 42 years at Ford Motor Company in Hamburg NY and raised a family in Buffalo and Kenmore, NY before briefly moving to Fort Walton Beach Florida and then eventually settling in Las Vegas Nevada for over 20 years. While in Las Vegas, he played an instrumental part in the erection of the local Saint Paul Orthodox Church in Las Vegas NV, led by Father Nikolas. Just as the candles in the services of this church burn strong for ail those whom have previously passed, the candle inside Bill never seemed to go out. He was tireless and strong but also selfless, always making sure others were okay before himself. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather Bill joined his wife of 49 years, Rose Julia Silecky, in heaven this past week. He is survived by his sister Helen Selesky, his three children Victor Silecky, William A. Silecky, Susan Silecky, his six grandchildren Krysten Silecky, Alicia Silecky, Brandyn Dombrowski, Ross Silecky, Taylor Dombrowski, Katie Silecky as well as his eight great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetary, 7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas Nevada from 5-7 pm on Tuesday May 13, 2014. Bill's burial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at the Garden of Comfort section Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery. Thanks Grandpa for all that you were and all that you did, you will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the All Saints Russian Orthodox Church 11 North Mohave Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
