Yvette Cecelia Maury Jackson was born in Chicago, Illinois to Lionel and Mildred Maury. She was the oldest of seven children. She was raised a devout Catholic, by a family whose roots were steeped in Catholicism, with her maternal great, great, great, grandmother commissioning the first Catholic Church for Free people of Color which was built in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Yvette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a lifelong caregiver, the family historian, and the life of every party. She lit up every room she walked into, and made friends everywhere she ventured. She was truly a once-in-lifetime woman, and we are all better for having known her. It was in Chicago that she met and married the love of her life, Armand Jackson on New Year's Eve (December 31st) and were married until his passing.
Yvette had a lovely disposition and personality and truly lived life on her own terms. She was witty, funny, talented, a self-taught photographer, and was devoted to her family. She was well respected and loved among her family, friends and peers.
She was a dedicated alumnus of Corpus Christie High School, and faithfully attended her reunions. She enjoyed weekly bowling with her family team, and Sunday dinners at the home of her sister, Camelia.
After she retired from VIP Services at Caesar’s World, she loved to travel with her family and daughter, Claudine, caring for her mother, Mildred, her Uncle Bill and her Aunt Dorothy, them making sure they were all well taken care of. Her true passion was giving of her time and expertise, and taking care of those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armand, and her parents Lionel and Mildred. Shortly after her passing, her younger brother Lionel Jr. joined her.
Cherishing her memories are her children, Edwin, Danielle, Yvette Claudine, and Gabrielle; grandchildren Nicholas, Alexis, Angelique, Sydney, Jackson, Samantha, Marielle; and great-grandsons Nassor and Nuri. Her siblings, Nichol, Joanne, Renette, and Kevin; his sisters-in-laws and brother-in-laws; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of cousins and family friends.
Yvette is deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her, and the dazzling light that she exuded daily.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Palm Mortuary Eastern on March 9, 2024 beginning with a joint cremorial with her beloved husband, Armand Jackson, from 11-11:30am, with a memorial reception for Yvette Jackson immediately following from 11:30am-3:30pm. All family & friends are invited to attend.
