He is survived by his wife, Nora Looney Gist; two sons, Dewayne Gist, Jason Gist; one daughter, Chasity Stephens; grandchildren, Katelyn Rumsdale, Jade Gist, Josie Gist, two step-grandchildren, Kai Stephens and Gavin Denton; one brother, Lee Gist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. and Clara Davis Gist.
Funeral Service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 1 pm with Hobart Seymore officiating and interment in Wade Cemetery in Iron City, TN and visitation Tuesday 11 am ~ 1 pm at the funeral home.
