Carol Catherine Long Kuebler, aged 100 years, 4 months, 21 days, was born on 17 Dec 1919 in Lincoln, Nebraska, and died 8 May 2020 in Leander, Texas. She lived from birth until 1925 on a homestead in Weld Co., Colorado. Her parents were Elmo T. Long and Gladys Carol Wilson Long. She was the eldest of three children. Her sister was Elyse Evelyn and brother Louis William.
Her family moved back to Lincoln in 1925, and she lived there for most of her life. When she was a senior in high school, she began working as an elevator operator in a furniture store, working her way up to the assistant of the owner and managers. Many years later, she went to work for the State of Nebraska in the auditor’s department and worked there until she retired at the age of 80.
Married in 1939 and divorced in 1947, Carol had one child, Carlene Kay, two grandchildren, Stephen and wife Ann, and Melissa and husband Jason, and two great grandchildren, Micah and Vaughn. She also had a brother in law, Ray; sister in law, Jackie; and nephews and nieces.
Carol was a member of East Lincoln Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served as the recording secretary for Sunday School for over 20 years. She was a member of the Genealogical Club of Lincoln and took care of mailing monthly newsletters to members for many years. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star and it’s Myrtle Chapter 94 in October of 1949 and received her 50th year membership pin in 1999. She attended their monthly meetings until 2008 when she moved to Texas.
