Carol became a U.S. citizen and lived in Hawaii, California, Texas, and Montana.
She loved many things about her new country. These included music by Tom Jones and Willy Nelson. She loved Las Vegas and her favorite was the Blazing 7’s Slot Machines
But most of all she loved all her friends. Everyone was her friend and in a deep way at the level of a blood kin. There was always a hug for everyone.
She had 5 brothers and 1 sister, and parents now all deceased. Carol was the last. However, she is survived by 11 Nieces and Nephews.
Jocelyn Delos Santos, Jasmin Aguilar, Precy Joy Ocon, Pearly Love de Dios, Alicia Fernandez, Windy Antolin.
Peter de Dios, Rodolfo (Ompong) de Dios, Sonny Hope de Dios, Billy Sunday de Dios, Ryan de Dios
She accomplished much
Graduate of Lorraine Technical College, Philippines, 3rd honor, where she became an expert clothing designer, pattern maker and seamstress.
She later founded and operated for over 40 years Silver Threads of Austin. Serving many customers, including dignitaries, the Ladies U.T. sports, and the Austin Women’s Symphony League. Her specialty was gowns including many custom wedding dresses. She considered them all her friends not just customers.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 8200, Liberty Hill, Texas. And did much volunteer work.
She loved gatherings and parties which included the annual Chauxd Fest and The Wild Beast Feast. These again included 3 things, for Carol…. Friends, Food and Wine.
Her last 4 years were tough. 3 years in Montana that she loved. But Vascular Dementia was diagnosed and the last 1 year was extra hard. The last months and Christmas were spent with family from Canada for her last birthday. She remained at home in Pflugerville where she died with her husband, niece and two dogs.
She had the best care from her friends, but dementia often took her personality into a role that was not her. She would, I know, thank all:
Dr. Ulysses Moore, the Hope Project, Camille Clark, the Hope Project, Kerry Nagle ATTEND LLC, Dr. William Jones, the Encompass Hospice folks, Lisa, Corey, Amy, Letitia and many others.
The many friends: Joe and Marilyn Williams, Steve Haecker, Dave Totedo, Todd Sharpe, John Loofs, Wayne and Linda Wheatley, Remi Jaramillo, Betty and Randy Hicks. The Austin Philippine Community, The Philippine family de Dios Clan and most especially her Niece, Jasmin Aguilar, who traveled from the Philippines to be with her and help.
Thanks to all.
