Carolyn Sue McCracken of the Cedar Park and Leander area passed away leaving a legacy of strength, generous leadership, and deep devotion to the people and communities she loved. A respected real estate professional and dedicated civic servant, Carolyn blended her expertise as Broker and Owner of Synterra Property Group with a heartfelt commitment to building a stronger, more connected North Austin region. Yet above all else, her greatest joys were her children and her grandchildren.
Carolyn’s first and deepest love was her family. Born and raised in a small East Texas town, Henderson Texas, she was taught values and love for her family. Her parents, Dell and Jesse Ray Moyers, and brother Jimmy Ray, were all beautiful role models for her and taught her so much about love and life.
She poured herself into the lives of her children from their earliest years, later extending that same devoted attention to her grandchildren. While living in Longview, Texas, she became deeply involved in their schools, serving as both Vice President and President of the Pine Tree Elementary School PTA. She attended as many of her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular events as she possibly could—cheering from the sidelines, celebrating every achievement, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Carolyn loved her family fiercely, cherished her friends, and was a loyal fan of the Houston Astros. Whether gathered around the dinner table, sitting in the stands, or simply sharing everyday moments, she found her greatest happiness in the people closest to her heart.
After Carolyn retired from working ‘for’ attorneys for 20 years, she decided to work for “herself” and became a Director with BeautiControl Cosmetics. She helped women be the most beautiful version of themselves, and helped women all over Austin.
After that successful career, she decided to open her own Real Estate company and for more than two decades, Carolyn guided families and individuals through one of life’s most significant journeys—buying, selling, and managing homes and land across Travis and Williamson Counties. As the owner of Synterra Property Group, she specialized in residential properties, land, and property management, always placing honesty, integrity, and her clients’ best interests at the center of every transaction. Her professional excellence was reflected in the advanced designations she earned: Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES). The SRES certification held special meaning for Carolyn, as it equipped her to guide older adults and their families through major life transitions with particular care, patience, and advocacy.
Carolyn’s love for her community extended far beyond her brokerage. She was a proud graduate of the initial Leadership Cedar Park Class 1999-2000, and Leadership Leander Class of 2005, both programs designed to cultivate the next generation of local leaders. Building on that foundation, she went on to serve as President of the Leander Chamber of Commerce for a one-year term in 2007, serving 3 years on the Board. She also devoted two years as Membership Chairman for the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce and served actively as a Chamber Ambassador—welcoming new businesses, supporting networking events, and celebrating the growth of the region through ribbon cuttings and community gatherings. She was also a volunteer for teen pregnancies with Hope Crisis Center, now Williamson County Crisis Center.
Those who knew Carolyn remember her as someone who showed up—whether representing a client with skill and compassion, mentoring fellow business owners, cheering at a school event, or simply offering a steady presence in the lives of her family and friends. She believed that strong neighborhoods and thriving communities begin with people who care enough to lead, to serve, and to lift others along the way. Through her work in real estate, her years of chamber service, and especially through the love she poured into her children and grandchildren, Carolyn left the world richer for her presence.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to the power of devoted love, quiet dedication and strong faith. Oh how she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of homes she helped families find, businesses she welcomed, children and grandchildren she adored, and a community she strengthened through thoughtful leadership. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched and the enduring example she set of service rooted in love for her country, her family, her friends, and her neighbors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Irving McCracken, and their 3 children, Stephanie Hedrick of Midland, Scott and Diana McCracken, of Grapevine, and Amy and Jeff Maddox of Liberty Hill. She has 4 amazing grandchildren, Clayton and Camryn Maddox, Kylie McCracken and Tanner Hedrick. She also has an extended family of children and grandchildren in Massachusetts and Florida.
She fought a courageous battle with cancer, and she received around the clock care by her devoted husband Irving, until the very end. May her spirit of generosity, loyalty, and love for God continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be missed terribly.
