

He was born on February 7, 1934, to Verna and Clifford Ray Rainey, Sr., in Cedartown, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force. After his military service, he attended and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to California after college, then moved to Florida where he worked at Cape Canaveral on the Apollo Space Program. After the Apollo space program came to a close, he transferred to Austin, Texas with IBM. He loved to play tennis, ski, and work on his bonsais and orchids.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 39 years, Micaela L. Rainey; his daughters Dee Dee Rainey King (Steve Turro), grandchild Chloe King; Alecia Rainey Lapointe (Dana J. Lapointe), grandchildren Patrick Lapointe (Katherine Lapointe), Erin Lapointe, great-grandchildren Sophia Lapointe, Maria Lapointe, and James Lapointe; step-children, Tanya Castro (Gabe Castro), grandchildren Ashley Castro Johnson (Kevin Johnson), Zachary Castro; Tamara Herrera (Jaime Herrera), grandchildren Jayden Herrera, Olivia Herrera (Joshua Hernandez), and Joshua Perez, great-grandchild Liam Perez; Francisco Castillo II (Rebecca Castillo), grandchildren Kayden Chavarra, Noah Castillo, and Makenna Castillo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Verna and Clifford Ray Rainey, Sr., and his sister, Betty Rainiey Andrews.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, since he had a passion for gardening, to please plant a tree in his memory.
