Cliff was born in Poplarville, Mississippi on December 27, 1954 to James Ray O’Quinn and Joann Lewis O’Quinn. His family moved to Houston, Texas when Cliff was young, and he graduated from Milby High School. His hobbies as a young man included playing the drums, playing on a Houston-based semi-pro football team, and body building where he achieved his goal of bench pressing 500 pounds. He had a fruitful career in law enforcement. He had many roles as a peace officer including being a member of the SWAT team, being a sniper, and working as a Marshal for the City of Pasadena. After nearly four decades in law enforcement, Cliff went on to open a cigar lounge with his son, Chance, that furthered his love for his favorite hobby – smoking cigars.
In 2002, Cliff married his soulmate, Staci. Their once separate families became one, and Cliff wouldn’t have it any other way. Cliff and Staci’s love for each other was apparent to all of those around them, and their adoration for each other never wavered. They were truly best friends. They celebrated a weekly date night every week for their almost 20 years of marriage but enjoyed running Sunday errands together just as much simply for the company. This included participating in one of Cliff’s recent favorite past times, strolling the aisles of the Leander HEB.
In 2012, Cliff gained his favorite title of all when he became “Pawpaw” to his first grandchild, Jaxon. By 2021, Cliff had become Pawpaw to four adoring grandchildren and cherished no role more. Despite his burly physique, Cliff’s friends and family deemed him “The Baby Whisperer” for his special ability to calm the fussiest of little ones. His retirement “job” was one he’d been looking forward to for many years – taking care of his grandbabies.
Cliff was a simple man who had no desire to gain materialistic possessions. His only wants were to be surrounded by friends and family enjoying a nice cigar and good conversation. His deep thoughts, sense of humor, and comforting scent of cologne will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, James Ray O’Quinn and JoAnn Lewis O’Quinn, and his sister, Paula Ann (O’Quinn) Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Staci Shugart O’Quinn; his son Cody Ray O’Quinn and his son Jaxon Pirate O’Quinn; his son Chance Alan Forman, wife Julie, and their daughters Lillian Bijou and Charlotte Dior; his daughter Taylor Delain Grant, husband Brandon, and their son Grayson Chance; his niece Norma Touchette, husband Jason, and their son Myles; and his nephew Michael Lee Wilson Jr., wife Josie, and their daughter Natalya.
A celebration of life for Clifton will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad, Leander, TX 78641.
