Curtis was born, raised, and lived the majority of his life in Big Spring, TX. At the age of 14, he was awarded the esteemed Order of the Arrow designation, as well as Vigil Honor, the highest honor in Boy Scouts. Curtis had a lifelong career in automotive repair as an ASE Master Certified Technician. He owned The Auto Center in Big Spring, TX for over 18 years. After he closed his business, he worked for Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf for 14 years teaching a new generation of mechanics.
He is survived by his wife Pam Bruns, mother Ruby Bruns, daughter and son-in-law Danielle and Cameron Thayer, and grandson Harrison.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, brother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held at Bagdad Cemetery, 400 N. Bagdad Rd Leander, TX 78641, on October 10, 2026 at 10:00 am.
