D. Brian Buske

D. Brian "Poppy" Buske, 77, of Round Rock, Texas, unexpectedly passed into Glory on July 25, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, and spent most of his life in Austin and Round Rock, where he built a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Brian earned a degree in Business, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and went on to enjoy a distinguished 32-year career with IBM before retiring in 2014.

Above all else, Brian was a family man. He shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Anita Buske of Round Rock. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Anita Buske; his daughter, Brandy Michelle Johnson and her husband, Chris Johnson; and their children, Jace Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Juliet Johnson, and Savannah's fiancé, Conner Banks.

He is also survived by his daughter, Terre King and her husband, Chris King; and their children, Kristin Cox, Chris Cox, Dustin King, Ashlie King, and Kevin King.

He is survived as well by his son, Garry Kirks and his wife, Dayne Kurtz; and daughters, Kaya Kirks and Molly Kirks.

Lastly, he is survived by 12 great grandchildren, his sisters, Carolyn Becker and Patty McDonald of Boerne, his brother, Paul “Buddy” Buske of Spring Branch, and numerous nieces and nephews (too many to count).

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie Adler; his stepfather, Dale Adler; his father, Charles Buske and by his granddaughter, Erin Kirks.

Known affectionately as "Poppy," Brian loved his family and friends fiercely. He wasn't simply present in their lives—he was involved in every way possible. Whether attending games, performances, graduations, birthdays, vacations or everyday moments, nothing brought him greater happiness than cheering on his children and grandchildren.

An avid sports fan, Brian faithfully supported the Texas Longhorns, especially Longhorn football, and remained a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Yet no sporting event was more important to him than one involving his grandchildren. If they were playing, performing, or competing, Poppy was there.

Brian had an incredible gift for fixing things, earning him the nickname "The Fixer." Whether it was something broke, a difficult problem, or a challenging situation, he believed there was always a solution and was determined to find it. He was fiercely loyal, endlessly dependable, and never afraid to tell it like it was. His sense of humor was legendary, and he loved making people laugh.

He often joked that "the only time I was wrong was when I thought I was wrong." While he loved the joke, those who knew him would agree that he was right far more often than not.

One of Brian's greatest passions was working in his yard. He truly had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. Countless hours were spent tending flowers, plants, and his lawn, finding peace and satisfaction in God's creation.

Brian faithfully supported Round Rock Christian Academy in countless ways. He especially loved attending athletic events, watching his daughter's Spring Shows and her cheer and dance teams, and celebrating every accomplishment of his grandchildren. His encouragement and support left a lasting impact on the school community.

Though sometimes a private man, Brian's faith was deeply personal and steadfast. He loved the Lord and often spent quiet moments on his porch—or in the wee hours of night—talking with the "Big Man Upstairs." His relationship with God was quiet but honest.

Brian's life was full because it was centered on what mattered most to him: being a devoted husband, a loving father, and one proud Poppy to all who called him such.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas 78641.

A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church / Round Rock Christian Academy's "Old Gym," 301 N. Lake Creek Drive, Round Rock, Texas 78681. In true Brian fashion, guests are encouraged to wear burnt orange in honor of his beloved Texas Longhorns—unless, of course, you're an Aggie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations can be made to the Round Rock Christian Academy’s Fine Arts Program at 800 Westwood Dr, Round Rock, Tx 78681, a program Brian and his wife, Anita supported because of their daughter Brandy and her love for fine arts.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing Brian has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." His legacy of laughter, hard work, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family he cherished so deeply.
