Dave was an incredibly kind hearted, generous, and intelligent man who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. He had a presence that was grand yet comforting, a bright, genuine smile, and a spirit that was truly a gift to experience. He loved wholeheartedly, and had an innate ability to bring strength, clarity, and joy to anyone who needed it.
Dave was an accomplished executive at IBM for over 20 years. He coined his strength being his ability to help others see, believe, and realize what they are capable of. He impacted the professional and personal lives of so many, and is respected and remembered in the highest regard.
A man of many talents, Dave was renowned for his craft as a leader and mentor, for his depth of knowledge across many (any) subjects, a fisherman, artist, cook, and most notably, a premium tequila and margarita connoisseur.
Above all, he was more than anyone could ever wish for in a husband, son, father, brother, and friend.
Dave fought against an incurable disease called mastocytosis. Until his final days, and despite the pain, he was upbeat and made everyone he encountered feel heard, encouraged, and loved. Much gratitude is owed to Dr. J.M. Vaughn, Dr. Benjamin L. Smith, and Dr. Samuel B. Pegram for their compassion and care of Dave over the years.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dominique Kemper; parents, Ralph and Betty Kemper; sister, Barbara Kemper; daughter, Denali Kemper; stepson, Max; and significant friends who Dave embraced as sons and brothers.
Dave wished to set sail and spend eternity in the Pacific Ocean. His wishes will be honored, and his ashes will be spread at Swamis Beach in Encinitas, CA at a later date.
In Dave’s memory, and to support the advancement of research in mast cell diseases, donations to the following organization are welcomed: The Mast Cell Disease Society, Inc.
