

Heaven opened its gate to welcome Emilio Navarro, at age 79, of Cedar Park, Texas, into its eternal embrace on October 23, 2023. Born on April 20, 1944, in East Austin to Emilio and Augustina Castruita Navarro, Emilio was the eldest son of eleven siblings. Emilio spent his childhood in East Austin, near Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He attended Palm Elementary School and University Junior High before being drafted into the United States Navy in the 1960s. Emilio served in the Navy as a Cook/Gunner’s Mate on the USS Caliente (AO-53) navy ship. He was stationed in the U.S. Naval Station of Treasurer Island, in San Francisco, California, at Pearl Harbor, and in Okinawa, Japan. He served in the Vietnam War before returning to Texas.
Emilio had a passion for classic cars and loved to buy and fix them up. He passed on his love for cars to his children. His favorite cars included a light green 1957 Chevy with a white top, a 1965 Chevy Impala, and a 1976 white GTO.He worked as a Salesman and Manager for Stripling Blake for over 30 years. Emilio worked for Radian Corporation and was responsible for running the warehouse department. He was a fantastic skater and taught his siblings how to skate at the Armadillo headquarters and Playland Skate Center.
It was at the Playland Roller Rink that he met Maria, the love of his life. They were married on April 20,1975 in Austin, Texas. They resided in Leander, Texas, where they raised their children.
Emilio was a kind-hearted and good person who enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings. He and Maria were known for their generosity and ensured everyone was happy and well-fed. Emilio's favorite drink was Presidente Brandy, which he would share and gift to his family and friends. He and Maria would often welcome people into their home and were always willing to help the family.
Emilio is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio Navarro and Augustina Castruita Navarro, and his siblings, Dorothy Juarez, Carmen Salas, Jesse Navarro, and Thomas Resendez. He is survived by his wife, Maria Navarro; his children Juany, Joanne, Mario & his wife Amber, Emilio, and Francisco; his five grandchildren; Andrew, Natalie, Addie, Saleen, Joseph, Juany Sifuentas; his siblings, Frances Martinez, Lupe Ramirez, Paula Solis, Verge Rivera, Cynthia Rivera & her husband Fernando, Douglas Richard Navarro, his aunt Mary Mendez, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other loving family, and friends.
A visitation for Emilio will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad, Leander, TX 78641, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
