Eudora Gertrude Ronk
December 27, 1926 – June 17, 2021
On Thursday, June 17, 2021 Gordon and Wendy Ronk's Mom peacefully passed away at the home of Gordon and Kathy Ronk in Cedar Park,Texas. She was 94 years of age.
The reason for her passing was Metastatic Breast Cancer. 40 years ago she had breast cancer and her breast removed and an implant inserted. Fourteen years ago she had to have her implant replaced. The Dr. told her she no longer had to get mammograms.
Imagine how surprised she was after complaining for several months of shoulder and back pain. An MRI was ordered and the results were shocking, and more tests were ordered. The diagnosis was that the original breast cancer had metastasized to her bones. Tumors were found in her shoulder blade, spine, hips and pelvis!
Her Oncologist told us there must've been a cell hiding all those years ago and was kept alive by, for example, her adrenal glands that still gave off estrogen and fed the cancer.
A couple of months after diagnosis and without a fall, she couldn't walk. Tests revealed that the cancer invaded her hip and pubic bone. Nothing could be done for her due to her advanced age.
If you're wondering why I'm going into such detail about her ordeal it's because I want women to realize to NEVER STOP GETTING MAMMOGRAMS.
MOM enjoyed watching cowboy movies and loved riding horses in her youth. She belonged to The Middlehope Fire House Auxiliary and St. Mary's Church in Marlboro. She was a true patriot. She was a beautiful woman who fought valiantly to the end.
Our thanks to Lloyd Wilson of Sonder Hospice and Nurses: Kathy, Amber, Lisa and anyone else who helped provide love and professional care to our Mother.
She is survived by her children Gordon Ronk of Cedar Park, TX and Wendy Ronk of Philadelphia, PA. Grandchildren Ed Osterhoudt, Chris Osterhoudt, and Joelle Maryn. Her great grandchildren, Siena Maria and Blake Thomas Hannabery.
She was predeceased by two of her grandaughters, Maria Michele Ronk and Erin Kathleen Osterhoudt.
We will be having a Mass here in Texas followed by a grave side service and burial in September at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marlboro, New York.
Mom, Happy Trails To You Until We All Meet Again. Please give Maria and Erin Our Love and Kisses.
