Gloria Louise King

Born in Jamaica, Miss Gloria's life was marked by dedication, compassion, and service to others. She later moved to England, where she became a Certified Midwife embracing a lifelong commitment to caring for others. Miss Gloria later migrated to Brooklyn, New York, where she continued her education at Saint Francis College, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Throughout her distinguished nursing career, she served patients and families with skill and compassion at Kings County Hospital and Brooklyn Hospital. Her work as NICU nurse touched countless lives and reflected her deep commitment to helping those in need.

After retiring in 1995, Gloria moved to Cedar Park, Texas, to be closer to her son and his family. There, she devoted much of her time to caring for her beloved granddaughters, Amy Garvey and Jaime Garvey. Family was the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Miss Gloria was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and willingness to share her knowledge and experiences as a nurse with everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel cared for and valued. Her daily walks to the mailbox became a familiar and cherished sight in the neighborhood, often accompanied by friendly conversations with neighbors and friends along the way.

Miss Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Colin Garvey, her beloved granddaughters, Amy Garvey and Jaime Garvey; as well as her cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and friendship.

Miss Gloria will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on in the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable 97 years.
