Harland Eugene Tvinnereim passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on January 3, 1944, and grew up on a farm in Webster, South Dakota, one of seven children. From an early age he learned the values of hard work, family, and life on the land—principles that remained central throughout his life.
After graduating from high school in 1962, Harland joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lubbock, Texas for two years before serving two additional years in Alconbury, England. While in England, he met the love of his life, Dorothy, and the two were married in 1966. After returning to the United States, Harland began a long and successful career with the 3M Company, where he worked for 37 years. The family first settled in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Harland and Dorothy welcomed their children, Michelle in 1970 and Michael in 1975.
Farming was always in Harland’s blood. In 1977 he purchased 60 acres near New Richmond, Wisconsin, where he became a dedicated hobby farmer raising sheep—many of which became grand champions. Later, the family moved to Austin, Texas, where Harland continued his career with 3M and formed many lasting friendships. In 2017, Harland purchased a ranch in Oklahoma, where he loved spending time relaxing, hunting, and enjoying the quiet countryside.
“Though he may be gone from our sight, the lessons he taught, the land he loved, and the family he built will carry his legacy forward for generations.”
