Mrs. Horquidea Isabel Beckford of Leander, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Beckford family’s home. She was in the presence of her loving family. Horquidea was born on June 9, 1981 in Oceanside, California. She was the second-oldest daughter of six children born to her mother Maria Bautista and the oldest of three children born to her father Juan Gomez.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Johnathan Dewayne Beckford on February 20, 2004, in Oceanside, California. Together, Horquidea and Johnathan have raised five beautiful children and she was the bedrock of their family. Her love and support were exceptional to Johnathan throughout the entirety of their marriage and provided him with the strength to finish his career with the Marine Corps in 2022 and transition to civilian life in Austin, Texas.
She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and initially given one year to live in February 2021 and simultaneously had found out that she was pregnant. Facing this unbearable news with grace, courage, dignity, and unwavering faith in God she believed in God’s healing power. Her strength to endure the constant suffering and still look after her family and encourage everyone was immeasurable with love. She fought hard every day with the God’s scripture and beat the odds of that fateful initial diagnosis after a nearly two-year battle with breast cancer at the young age of 41. Proverbs 31:25 states “She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future” Horquidea would always tell her family no matter the trial or tribulation to “Don’t worry about anything instead pray and ask God about everything you need” Phillippians 4:6. She truly was an inspiration to all and her selflessness will always be remembered.
Horquidea went to Oceanside High school but received her high school diploma from the District of Columbia. She would fully commit her life to the Lord in 2012 and would strive to spread the word of God to everyone close to her through daily scripture affirmations, daily prayer for family and friends, and the love she displayed would always demonstrate the goodness of God wherever she went.
Horquidea is survived by her loving husband Johnathan, her five exceptional children Shardenay, Cristian, Mia, Mya, and Josephine, her mother and stepfather Guadalupe and Jesus Cuevas, her father Juan Gomez, her 5 siblings Bianca, Gladiola, Maria, Ruben, Diana, and her many nieces and nephews. The Beckford family would like to thank the Naval Medical Center San Diego and Three Oaks hospice care for their caring professionalism and comforting compassion while providing medical and caregiving services to Horquidea during her last pregnancy and her cancer battle.
The wake/viewing will take place at Weed Corley Fish funeral home 1200 S. Bagdad Rd, Leander, Tx on February 23, 2023, from 4-5pm for immediate family and 5-8pm for friends and extended loved ones. The Celebration of Life service for Horquidea will take place at Believers Church 1650 Co Rd 270, Leander, TX 78641 from 9-11am and Pastor Travis Cunningham will serve as the officiant for the service.
Mrs. Horquidea Beckford will be laid to rest at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located in Killeen, TX.
The Beckford family would like family, friends and extended loved ones to donate to the Faith Wears Pink non-profit organization at Faithwearspink.org. Faith Wears Pink is a Christian-based non-profit organization that supports women through cancer struggles and offers scripture based advice and encouragement. Horquidea was a true believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and always looked to encourage family and friends through God’s Holy Word. She truly gave all the love she had to her family and friends even though she was suffering so much, and our family would be grateful to everyone if we could honor Horquidea and help fellow women of faith who believe in God’s healing power and support the mission of the Faith Wears Pink organization. Everyone may now take solace in knowing that Horquidea is resting in God’s perfect peace and that she is now a guardian angel for our family who we will one day see again.
