Our dear father and grandfather, James Clyde Dillon Jr, passed away after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s on June 30, 2020 in the comfort of his home in Cedar Park, TX. He’s now safe with Jesus and free from pain and the worries of this world. “Jim” was born June 29, 1936, the firstborn son of James and Ruth Dillon. He was 10 years old when his little brother, Gary, was born. They were raised in the rural town of Julian, PA where Jim’s adventurous spirit took root and flourished. Hunting, fishing, trapping and baseball filled his younger years.
At 18 years old, Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Maurer, and spent the rest of his life devoted to her. They were married 60 years before Nancy was called home to her Savior on September 8, 2014. They had 2 daughters and 3 sons: Sherry, Jimmy, Cindy, Ricky and Danny. After their biological children were grown, they opened their home and their hearts to 9 foster children. They also enjoyed 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Jim served in the United States Air Force for over 26 years. He was stationed in Okinawa, Taiwan and Japan; as well as across the United States. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant, settling in Austin, TX where he lived out the rest of his days. He will be sorely missed, but we rest in the knowledge that our wonderful parents’ adventure together has only just begun.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home located at 1200 S. Bagdad Rd. Leander, TX 78641 at 10:00 am on July 9. Interment with military honors will follow at Cook Walden Capitol Parks Memorial Hill Cemetery 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
