Jane was born in Albany, New York, January 5, 1937 to parents Jacob and Elizabeth Henkens, who lived on a farm in Bethlehem, upstate New York. She had two siblings Dorathea “Dottie” McAuliffee of Texas who died in 2019 and Linda “Lindy” Erickson of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, who survives her sister Jane. Jane lived in several states from New York, to California, to Texas to Florida and back again to Texas over her lifetime. However, it was when, in 1970, that a notable event took place that ultimately led her on her pathway of service. Jane wrote “God came to me in [my] kitchen [while] alone in California with spirit and love.” With many years and trials in life she went on to meet her calling as a missionary in 1989.
Jane survived three husbands. She married her first husband, Leonard R. Garramone, in July 1955 when she was 18 years old. They had three children, Timothy Friedrich, Christopher Leonard and Eric Ronald who all survive her. Leonard tragically died in a plane crash in 1965. Jane moved to California shortly after that. She met widower Charles “Pop” Henry Eaves, they married in 1969, and moved to Texas to join her three boys with his large family that included Charlie II, Ruth Ann, James “Bo”, Gene, Mark, Angie, David, Debra, Dale, and Danny. Charles “Pop” died in 1987. A few years went by and Jane moved to Florida, and undertook many missionary travels to foreign lands. In Florida she also met and married George Joseph Brouillette in 1992. “He was the love of my life” she once stated. With George, Jane’s family expanded again to include step-children Michael, David, Thomas, Peter and Nancy of Vermont who have survived them both. George died in 2004.
Finally, Jane left this writing, “A prayer of my own: Make pure my heart and clean my mind. Make strong and well my body, that I may serve you O’ Lord.”
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
