John Albert Durham, of Austin, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023 at Hospice Austin Christopher House in the presence of his beloved wife Shellie. John was born on October 7, 1969 in Harlingen, TX. He attended Epiphany Episcopal School, HM King High School, Texas Tech, and St. Mary's Law School.
During his academic career, John was a member of the Phi Delta Fraternity, Tennis and Running clubs. After graduating, John had a successful career as an attorney at law and an insurance adjuster. John was loved for his kind nature and his ability to make others feel valued, safe, and appreciated. He cherished the simple joys in life, such as enjoying a cup of aromatic coffee or time spent playing with his pets. He also enjoyed hiking Texas trails and participating in sports such as running and tennis.
John is survived by his wife Shellie Harding; parents George and Charlene Durham; sister Laurie Durham; sister Kathy Durham; brother Chris Durham and his wife Erin; and nephews Brenton, Chris, and Lance.
Family and friends will be gathering to honor the life of John on August 19th at 12:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Leander, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's honor to the Austin Humane Society and Austin Wildlife Rescue.
