John Joseph Kelley was born April 5, 1957 in Houston, Texas, the son of Ray Adams and Rose Marie Oechsner Kelley. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 26, 2021 in Round Rock, Texas at the age of 63.
John grew up in the Houston area, and was a 1975 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School (Houston, Texas) where he was a member of the Drama Club, Speech team and the Track team. After high school, John attended the University of Houston, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Within his 43 years in the banking industry John worked for multiple organizations and under different titles. For the past 20 years he worked with his Bank of America family where he earned the title of the Managing Director- National Head of Specialty Asset Management.
He enjoyed coaching sports, including his children’s teams when they were young. He loved to garden, play the guitar, cook, go to the movies, tell jokes, and play with his dogs. In his youth John was on the East End Little League baseball team, coached by his father. As a young father himself, he played on teams with his friends at the Softball Country Club. John was an avid movie-goer and sports fan and watched many game shows. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He and Tina Denise Foster were united in marriage on March 12, 1988. John was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Kay Elizabeth Kelley. He is survived by his wife, Denise Kelley; children, Jennifer Elaine Kelley-Hudspeth (husband Greg, her mother Angelica), John Foster Kelley (wife Leah), Jessica Marie Kelley and Amanda Leigh Kelley; brothers, Michael Lee Kelley (wife Terri) and Paul Adams Kelley (wife Patty); granddaughter, Riley Rose Kelley; step-grandchildren, Allie Burklund, Christian Hudspeth and Brendan Hudspeth; sister-in-law, Michele Foster; brothers-in-law, Craig Foster (wife Mary), Mark Foster (wife Becky) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas. Family would like business casual (blue jeans are fine, but no shorts or flip flops). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following: The Caritas Organization, Friends of the Earth, Natural Resources Defense Council, Crayons to Classrooms, Great Aspiration Scholarship Program, United Way or to a charity of your choice involved in education, nature or healthcare research. Contributions can also be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research organizations.
