Kaitlyn (Katie) Marie Swallow was born January 18, 2003 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Tripler Army Medical Center to Sarah Emily Swallow and David Jared Swallow. Throughout her life, she called many places home—Wahiawa, HI, Clarksville, TN, Austin and Liberty Hill, TX—leaving little pieces of her heart in each, making cherished memories with all those that surrounded her.
A 2021 graduate of Liberty Hill High School, Katie moved from Texas to Clarksville, TN following high school completion and resided with her father and step family for several years, maturing into young adulthood. She spent time working at Governor’s Square Mall, for a short period of time at Journeys and then at Nail Trix Salon, where she began to come into her own and was embraced by her work family for who she was. She truly had an appreciation for her work family and the cultural influences they had on her shined, as throughout her life, she was always captivated by Pan-Asian cultures and cuisine, always curious and open to the world around her. In 2024, Katie returned to Texas and found other opportunities for growth. She most recently held the position as an assistant manager for Marco’s Pizza in Leander, and she was dedicated to the responsibilities that were new to her.
Truly an artist, she enjoyed expressing herself in many forms beginning in her youth, including theater, beauty and fashion, visual and graphic arts. She was a lover of anime, horror movies, graphic design, video games, and live music. To know Katie was to know a free spirit—funny, bold, creative, and unapologetically herself. She spent time attending concerts and music festivals. At the age of 5, while attending Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2008—with mom and her Uncle Pudge chaperoning—she displayed her amazing air guitar talent to Metallica’s performance, a talent she initially developed at an even younger age with the numerous Wiggles Concerts she could be found attending. As she grew older, she came to enjoy paranormal tours, tattoo parlors, card game nights, and meeting new people, laughing, and sharing her wonderfully quirky personality and expressions. With grit, determination, and in true anime fashion, we like to imagine she is off and away on new adventures some in some ethereal and magical place, sword in hand and full of power.
She leaves behind her mother and her two brothers, Isaac Rhys Miller and Ender Maxwell Rollman as well as her former stepfather Billy Winters, III in Liberty Hill, TX; her father along with stepmother Emy and stepsisters, Hope and Faith in Tennessee; her surviving grandparents, Joanie and Dave Swallow of Sebastopol, CA, Yolanda (Larry Holybee) Rodriguez of Round Rock, TX, and Jack (Cheryl) Gregg of Cheyenne, WY; also, countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends both near and far – hearts forever touched by her presence and altogether, grieving a deep loss. Most recently preceded in death by dearest friends Phyllis Luther and son Michael Luther, Lynette “G’ma Nette-Nette” Graham, all of Clarksville, TN; her loving Aunt Victoria Swallow and Great-Grandma Norma Winter of Sebastopol, CA; great-grandparents Severiano and Fidela Rodriguez and Great Uncle Benny Rodriguez of Lubbock Texas. Most notably, Katie was lost tragically along with many beautiful people and children in the flood waters of what should have been a celebratory weekend. Prayers for all the lost - may they find peace.
