Laurice Arthur Peloquin of Jonestown, Texas fell peacefully asleep in death on Monday, June 22, 2020 in Cedar Park, Texas at the age of 81. He was born on July 20, 1938 to Yvette Cote and George Peloquin Sr. in Chicopee, Massachusetts and was the eldest of seven children.
Laurice, or Lar as he was known to friends and family, grew up in Southampton, Massachusetts. He attended Westfield Trade High School in Massachusetts to become a machinist. Later, while working for Digital Equipment Corporation, he enrolled in night courses to become a civil engineer and tool-and-die maker. For a time, he worked for Little Town Workshop located in Granville, MA for Richard Bliss, with whom he developed a lasting friendship. He also worked for Carbomedics, and eventually retired from Dell Computer Corporation in Austin, TX. In addition to these positions, Laurice often held down secondary jobs to support his family. He was a dedicated and seemingly tireless provider.
Laurice remained a steadfast and faithful Witness of Jehovah all of his life. He, along with two of his sisters, Georgette and Blanche, was baptized on March 13, 1954 in Worcester, MA. In 1958, while attending the large International Convention of the Jehovah’s Witnesses at Yankee Stadium, NY Laurice met the love of his life, Kathleen Jeanette Bridges, and the two married in 1959. Over the years, he helped several people to become baptized servants of Jehovah, including Ernie Bean and Fresnel Anglade. At our assemblies and conventions, he could be found helping in the food department, or in the sound department with Brother Horvath.
Laurice and Kathleen had four children: Mike, Lorie, Scott and Kristy. In 1978, they left the little house they had in the Berkshire Mountains and made the long trek to Texas. On the 198 acre ranch in Cedar Park, Texas, Laurice took on the role of rancher and caretaker (in addition to his day jobs). He developed a love for being outdoors and never failed to care dutifully for the animals in his care.
Laurice was generous beyond measure, shy yet funny, and above all else, true to his love for Jehovah and his family. The life lessons he passed along, his joy of being with his family and friends, and his selflessness are etched onto the hearts of all who knew him. We will miss him greatly.
Laurice was preceded in death by his mother; father; his brother, Rene Peloquin; and his sister, Jeanette Burnett. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Kathleen Peloquin; and his four children: Michael Peloquin, Lorie Parr, Scott Peloquin, and Kristy Peloquin; and his six grandchildren: Chuck Peloquin, Sydney Gibson, Azurean Teeple, Matthew Parr, Sophie and Livia Peloquin. He is also survived by his siblings: Georgette Fiszer, Blanche Fischer, George Peloquin Jr., and Leo Peloquin Sr.
