

Leon was a devoted husband, father, friend, and faithful servant of God. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. For decades, he gave generously of his time and talents to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving in many roles with quiet dedication. Leon found joy in community and tradition, singing with the Austin Saengerunde German choir and dancing with the Yellow Rocker Square Dance Club and the Lone Star Cloggers. A man of extraordinary generosity, he donated over 120 gallons of blood throughout his lifetime, offering the gift of life to countless others.
His is survived by his wife, Gail Wegele, his siblings: Ruth Lyons, Laura Leiker, and Loren Wegele, his children: Corey and Monica Wegele, Stacey and Jason Rearick, his grandchildren: Sarah and Cody Carter, Hannah and Austin Pritchard, Jordan Wegele, Nathan Rearick, Christine Wegele, Natalie Rearick and Titus Rearick, and his great granddaughter, Emerson Pritchard.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Christine Wegele; his in-laws, Everett and Maxine Nelson; his nephews, Curtis Dean Arnberger and Jack Leon Lyons, God son; his sister-in-law, Janice Elaine Arnberger.
Inurnment will be on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 1:00 P.M. at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cedar Park, Texas at 2:00 P.M, located at 700 W. Whitestone Blvd. Cedar Park, Texas 78613.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, We Are Blood, or The National WWII Museum in Louisiana. For those who wish to express their sympathy with flowers, arrangements may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 700 W. Whitestone Blvd. Cedar Park, Texas 78613, for the service on November 1, 2025.
