With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Jean Calvin, 84, on June 14, 2025. Born May 7th, 1941, in Houston, Texas, she was the only child of James Weldon and Thelma Lucille (Faubion) Shows.
Growing up in the Houston area, she attended Reagan High School, where she met her sweetheart and future husband of 64 years, Cecil Calvin.
Jean continued her education, attending Lillie Jolly School of Nursing, and became a registered nurse. She later worked as district school nurse for Leander Independent School District for over twenty years.
Her innate qualities of compassion, patience, empathy, and understanding served her well in her professional life, and were just some of the characteristics that made her the devoted wife and loving mother she was.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Leander for many years, and loved the Lord. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and helping Cecil care for the animals and cattle while she was able. Gathering with family is what brought Jean the most joy. She brought warmth, comfort, and kindness to those around her, and being in her presence felt like home.
Jean is survived by husband Cecil Calvin of Thorndale, son Michael Calvin (Diane) of Austin, son Patrick Calvin (fiancé Marina)of Round Rock, daughter Tracey Huff (Mike) of Round Rock grandson Adam Collins (Kara) of Georgetown, granddaughter Haley Hill (husband Mitchell), and two great grandsons, McCoy and Calvin Hill of Holland, Texas.
Jean embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, grace, and strength of spirit. We are blessed and thankful that she is now resting peacefully in the Savior’s arms.
A graveside service will occur at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Bagdad Cemetery, 400 N Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas 78641.
