Born in Windsor, Ontario, in 1943, Mike was the beloved husband of 63 years to Cheryl Whaling (nee Carson) of Austin, TX, father to Mark (Rosemary) and Sean (Wendy) Whaling, and special grandpa to Timothy, Justin, Jacob, Kyle and Ginger Whaling.
Dearest brother to William (Billy) Whaling of Naalehu, Hawai‘i. Predeceased by brothers Jerome (Jerry) Whaling (Chatham, Ontario), Richard Whaling (Pembroke, Ontario), and sister Liz Boileau (Guelph, Ontario). Dear brother-in-law to Cindy Crow (nee Carson), Al Carson, Marc Boileau, Beverley Whaling, and a much-loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Mike will be remembered as an entrepreneur who built a life around ideas, persistence, and determination. A pioneer of real estate commission factoring in the early 1990s, and an innovator in mining technology, he approached every challenge with curiosity and resolve. Above all, he was devoted to his family and to the life he spent years working to build.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time.
