Mike was born in Austin, TX to James and Gilberdine Chelf. A lifelong resident of Austin, he attended Austin High and Southwest Texas State University. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Enterprise. In 1978 he married Debbie and celebrated 48 years with her last April. Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors and served in various leadership roles in the Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed spending time with his family on Lake Travis. He is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Chelf McCool. He is survived by his wife Debbie; sons Andrew and James; daughter Donna; grandchildren Madison, McKenzie, Holly, and Leona; and sister Sandy.
A Committal Service will be held at Bagdad Cemetery Association, 400 N Bagdad Rd, Leander, TX 78641 on October 9, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
