She was born in Temple, Texas to Stacy and Dorothy Smith. The family soon moved to Austin where she
met and married Ivan Taborsky in May 1965. They went on to live in several states and countries while
raising their son, Steven Taborsky and daughter, Julie Taborsky McCracken.
Pamela held many different jobs but was most proud of being an educator. She taught home
economics, French and German. Pamela re-invented herself with each move and found a job that
needed to be done. She worked for the American Embassies in Paris and Vienna by helping new families
settle into their new country.
Pamela and Ivan shared a love of travel and fine dining. They were forever planning their next trip to
somewhere new, but mostly returned to their favorite places instead.
Her love of sewing was evident with all the homemade Halloween costumes she made her children and
grandchildren. Pamela even sewed her own wedding dress, as well as many ball gowns for events
overseas. She also showed off her baking skills with numerous birthday cakes for her children,
grandchildren and even a wedding cake for a life-long friend. One of her favorite activities was to collect
seashells with her grandchildren at the beach on South Padre Island.
While Pamela moved very often, she maintained some friendships that lasted her lifetime. The family
has appreciated their support and love during this time especially.
Per her wishes, there will be no service, but Pamela will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread in a
place of her choosing that she loved. The family plans to have a remembrance gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Breast Cancer Resource Center as both
Pamela and her daughter were Breast Cancer survivors. You may use the link below or mail a donation
