Peter Luna Barba

Ignacio L. (Peter) Barba, Jr., beloved father and brother in Christ, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 16th, 2022 at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin. Peter was born on April 27, 1938 and raised in Austin. He was the second-born child to Ignacio R. Barba, Sr. and Guadalupe Luna Barba. He is survived by three siblings, Mary Elizabeth Davila, Jesse Barba and Mary Alice Case. Peter leaves behind four children, Deborah Siegert, husband Rick of Cedar Park, Stephen Barba, wife Carol of Round Rock, Susanna Barney, husband Andrew of Austin and Asa Barba, wife Melissa of The Colony. He leaves behind a legacy of 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. During his working life, Peter was happiest as a business owner. In his life he owned and co-owned many different types of businesses. His greatest success was his last business where he owned his own plumbing company, Barba Plumbing, for many years. Peter also served in the in the Army National Guard as a young man. He was Honorably Discharged in 1958. Peter enjoyed sports his whole life. He loved the Yankees, Longhorns and Cowboys. He played softball well into his 40’s. He helped coaching Peewee football. He enjoyed playing poker and spending time with family. Peter’s faith was very important to him. He truly met Jesus in 1981 and it became a cornerstone of his life. Up until his passing, you would see him reading his Bible and listening and singing along to his favorite worship music. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Shoreline Church – South Campus on Sunday the 2nd of October. The service will begin at 2 PM. The family welcomes all who wish to come and share in our celebration of life for Peter.
