Priscilla K. Switzer, age 88, of Cedar Park, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, after complications from congestive heart failure. A dedicated volunteer, she was honored in 2003 by the Post-Crescent and the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region during the Celebrating Volunteers awards event for her contributions to the Attic Theater.
Priscilla was born in Princeton, IL, on August 27, 1936, to the late William and Nelie (Hartz) House. On October 27, 1957, Priscilla was united in marriage to Jack Switzer in Princeton, Illinois. The couple shared fifty-seven wonderful years together before Jack passed away in May 2015. Priscilla graduated from Wyanet High School, Class of 1954, where she was the Valedictorian. Priscilla worked for years at Peterson and Johnson Law offices, AT&T, and Champion Pneumatic before starting a family with Jack. The family moved to Appleton, WI, in 1977, where she volunteered with the Cub Scouts and worked at Tel-Sec. After retirement, she volunteered at the Appleton Public Library, Attic Theatre, and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Alongside her professional and community accomplishments, Priscilla's cherished personal relationships formed the foundation of her life.
She is survived by her two sons: Stephen (Aileen) Switzer, of McFarland, Wisconsin, and their two children, Guenther and Katrina; and Daniel (Mariana) Switzer, of Cedar Park, TX; and a brother, Jon House, Wyanet, IL. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kay Lenore (House) Smith, in September 2022.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 22nd, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit the funeral chapel Thursday from 12:00-1:00 pm until the time of service. Food will be served on-site after the ceremony. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
Many people might be surprised that Priscilla used to drive a tractor on her father’s farm. Those who knew Priscilla fondly recall her unique tastes and whimsical passions. Among her many cherished memories, her personal favorites reflected a life lived with joy and authenticity:
